It is crocheted by hand from waste billboard fabric, which is very durable material and takes ages to decompose – current estimates say it takes 20 years before it even starts to degrade! There is also currently no way to recycle billboard fabric, so the creative Upcycle team has figured out a brilliant application to keep waste billboards out of the landfill! An extra benefit is that the fabric does not absorb water, meaning the scrubbie dries very quickly, breeds less bacteria than your average sponge, and will not rot like natural materials will so you won’t need to replace it very soon. You can also wash it in the washing machine (or handwash) alongside regular laundry or alongside kitchen laundry, to keep it hygienic (unlike your average dish scrubber!) A long-lasting solution, that works like a bomb, saves you money, and saves the planet that bit of extra landfill. THIS is what zero-waste is all about!
