Description What a brilliant way to beat the load shedding blues! A non-electric cooking aid, that saves energy, money, CO2 emissions, it’s made from waste, and it makes your food healthier and tastier! Can’t get better than that! These thermal cooker bags use 30 – 80% the energy of conventional cooking methods. You bring a pot of food to the boil on a stove or fire, then let it simmer for 5 minutes. Once simmering, you transfer the pot to the slow cooker thermal bag, and place the bag’s lid on and secure it snugly. Leave the food inside the bag to cook to completion, thus saving electricity, fire wood, gas or whatever else you would normally use. It not only saves energy, but also money, because energy is expensive! And because it saves energy, it also reduces your carbon footprint. It is made entirely from upcycled waste, in an effort to divert waste from landfill, while up-skilling unemployed communities around Johannesburg. Besides all the sustainable stuff, it really also results in healthier and tastier food – give it a try, you won’t go back to the old ways! You can also use it to make home-made yogurt, or use it as a bread prover to help dough rise. Note the colours and motives are random – we try to stick to navy and black, but depending what factory offcut fabric is available it may differ. Made in SA: Proudly handmade in South Africa by the Upcycle team, in an effort to divert corporate waste from landfill and transform it into beautiful and useful products, thereby creating opportunities for local microentrepreneurs and self-starters. Size and other specifications: One size fits most (suitable for about 3 litre pot up to 10 litre pot) Materials: 100% cotton fabric from factory offcuts, broken waste polystyrene Packaging: Biodegradable compostable kraft paper label
