A true boutique item – each and every bag is unique, being made from waste billboard fabric. You read that right… You can now sling a billboard across your shoulder like it’s nobody’s bizznizz! In doing so, you save the billboard fabric from going to the landfill (or worse, the river or veld, because they take ages to decompose), you eliminate some disposable shopping bags, you create local jobs for the otherwise unemployed, you set a sustainable trend that many will want to follow, and you express your individuality. Style sustainable pizazz… if this won’t rock your world, I truly don’t know what will. Zero waste, max slay… bring it on! It is locally made from waste billboard fabric, which is very durable material and takes ages to decompose – current estimates say it takes 20 years before it even starts to degrade! There is also currently no way to recycle billboard fabric, so the creative Upcycle team are figuring out brilliant applications to keep waste billboards out of the landfill. An extra benefit is that the fabric is waterproof (so no gross grocery goo leaking from your bag!) and it is machine washable (or handwashable) alongside regular laundry, to keep it hygienic (unlike many other types of shopper totes!) The texture is like soft canvas, so the bags are easily foldable, relatively thin, and easy to carry around. The bags are well-made, with neat trims and reinforced stitching around the handles, the fabric is extremely strong and it can carry a lot of weight. This is probably the last shopper bag you’ll every want, and need. Note the colours and motives are completely random, being made from waste there is little standardisation of colours and each item is unique.
